The Gamefest CD collection, and Wizworks CD collection offer the latest versions of each game, but the latest versions actually have disadvantages in some cases. Specifically the introduction music was broken in the latest versions of Pool of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds.

I’m hoping patches will provide information on exactly what was changed between the various versions of each game, or help track down those changes. Each game offered several different versions, I’m compiling a list at http://ua.reonis.com/index.php?topic=3065.0

I’m looking for any patches for MS-DOS versions, but would be interested to hear of patches for other platforms too.

It sounds like patches might have been distributed via Compuserve and other similar services in distant past, judging by text file included with the Dark Queen of Krynn patch.

I think it was just a bug in the game, I recall the Commodore 64 version of Pool of Radiance in particular could corrupt items, when using certain magical items (Gauntlets of Ogre Power). The bug would often produce strange, and sometimes powerful items.
