Wasn’t your imagination, Matrix Cubed ends with Buck Rogers saying ‘Let’s go home!’ and it kicks you out to the DOS prompt.
They should have let you go back and wander around and engage in minor fights, like POR, SSB, POD, COK, DKK, DQK, GSF, and TSF.

So…you need 22,501 XP. This is pretty hard and requires completing many missions. However, areas that give a lot of XP with relatively little trouble include:
The treasure corner in the NW corner of the Slums
Kovel Mansion (you can get pretty far with Sleep and Hold Person spells)
The skeleton and zombie spectres in Valhingen Graveyard (you may want to save beforehand to make sure you don’t get drained)
Yarash (this one isn’t that easy, but they will give you a huge amount of money for completing this mission)
The Lizardmen Keep (if you do this one after Yarash, you will only have to fight one lizardman)Good luck!

How much thought did you give to the ‘palettes’ of the other dimensions? Seems like the spider dimension’s all in purple, and Moander’s in green, red, and orange. Or was that just a coincidence?
So…seeing as this is apparently the proper forum (which I get the need for):
*What was the backstory behind ‘Oh, well’ at the end of Dave’s Challenge in PoD?
*Why didn’t we get to fight Manshoon?
*Why did we have a pretty nice remake of Queen of the Demonweb Pits (complete with the portal in the temple) with a Marilith, rather than Lolth, at the end? Were you not allowed to kill off TSR’s signature characters? Heck, by 30th level, I’d have thought *Bane* would be the final boss…
